Kathmandu,Aug 24 - Nepali Congress leader and former member of Bagmati State Assembly Rajaram Karki passed away on Wednesday evening at the age of 66 during treatment of Cancer at Bir Hospital.
Karki, who has been a member of the General Committee/Congress Representative until the ninth Congress, worked as the Central General Minister of Nepal Team Tarun and Secretary of Congress in Dhading. He was a party candidate from Dhading-3 in the 2064 Constituent Assembly election.
As Congress Central Office Chief Secretary Krishna Prasad Paudel information, Karki's mortal body was kept at the Party Central Office Sanepa from 9 am to 11 am on Thursday morning and cremated after paying homage.
Congress president Sher Bahadur Deuba has expressed his grief over Karki's death and expressed his condolences.
In the meeting of the emergency central working committee held on Thursday, Chairman Deuba said that Karki's death has saddened the party and said that Karki's contribution to the democratic movement wil be remembered in history.
The meeting has decided to pay tribute to Karki and observe mourning for two days. According to the Chief Secretary of the Central Office Krishna Prasad Paudel, it has been decided to lower the flags at the party office for two days on 7th and 8th of Bhadra and pay tribute by keeping a condolence book on Friday 8th.
Similarly, it has been decided to organize a mourning meeting in the respective districts on the 13th day of Ascension. Karki, a former central member of the party, was elected as a member of the Bagmati Provincial Assembly in 2074.
