Chinese Embassy in Nepal organized a reception on 29th August to address the forthcoming Chinese Army Day of August 1st.
About 500 people including the Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Chen Song, Chief of the Nepalese Army Prabhuram Sharma, Nepalese Army, diplomatic experts, people's representatives from various regions of Nepal, Chinese representatives in Nepal participated in the reception ceremony.
Army Day keeps of a great importance and celebration in China as it signifies the founding of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) in 1927. This year counts to be the 96th anniversary of the PLA's foundation.

Colonel Lu Guozheng, Senior Defense Attaché of the Chinese Embassy in Nepal, in his speech, reviewed the glorious history of the Chinese People's Liberation Army for the past 96 years and said that the Chinese People's Liberation Army is guided by the ideas of Xi Jinping.
He expressed his desire to continue deepening the friendly and cooperative spirit together with the Nepali Army, saying that the century-old goal of strengthening the army under the strong leadership of the Chinese Communist Party has made a significant contribution to the protection of world peace.

Chinese Ambassador His Excellency Chen Song said that since the Eighteenth National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the People's Army under the strong leadership of the Party Central Committee, Central Military Commission and President Xi Jinping has created a new situation with the aim of strengthening the army.
"President Xi Jinping's three major global initiatives, the "Global Security Initiative", "Global Development Initiative" and "Global Civilization Initiative", provide Chinese solutions to promote world peace, development and human progress. China is willing to work with Nepal to actively implement the important agreement reached by the leaders of the two countries and to promote bilateral military exchanges and cooperation to achieve more results", Song informed through the speech.
An English promotional video titled 'We are always here waiting for orders' was also shown at the reception. A promotional video was released showing that the Chinese military has long been an active participant in international peacekeeping, maritime security, anti-epidemic assistance, humanitarian rescue and other activities and said, "The Chinese military has always been a staunch force in maintaining world peace''.
The day known as ''Army Day'', ''PLA Day'', or ''Armed Forces Day'' in English also has a variety of titles in Chinese meaning ''The Anniversary of the Founding of the Chinese People's Liberation Army'' and ''August 1st Army Day''. These are all just different names for a day devoted to remembering China's fallen and honoring the country's current service men and women.
Army Day was born as a result of a massacre of communists (in April 12th, 1927) by the ruling government and a subsequent uprising, both of which were formative events in the early history of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Twenty-two years later, the PLA was victorious in expelling Chiang Kai-shek's Nationalist forces from mainland China, giving Mao Zedong the power to proclaim the establishment of the People's Republic of China.
China values it by providing a day holiday at this date. Officers and soldiers throughout China celebrate the event with a great joy.
