The son of Rakesh Adukia, who is suspected to be the main accused in smuggling one quintal of gold has been arrested today in Kathmandu. 22-year-old Rohan was caught from the arrival hall of Tribhuvan International Airport just a while ago.
According to Tribhuvan Airport DIG Arjun Chand, Rohan Adukia was taken into custody immediately upon his arrival in Kathmandu via an Indico flight from New Delhi.
He was arrested by the Nepal Police as soon as informed by the immigration desk of Tribhuvan International Airport while coming to Kathmandu from New Delhi. He has been taken to the Revenue Investigation Department from the airport.
He got off at Kathmandu airport from the Indigo Air flight carrying Indian passport Z 6396421 at 3:30.
The Department of Revenue Investigation (DRI) has launched a manhunt for Rakesh Kumar Adukia, who is one of the two prime suspects on the DRI 'radar' since the seizure of around 100 kg of smuggled gold from Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), Kathmandu.
It was suspected that Adukia and his son was on the run, reportedly fled to New Delhi after he drew media attention on his alleged involvement in gold smuggling, according to DRI sources.
