Taxi service providers have demonstrated against the red plates carrying passengers in Kathmandu. They demonstrated in front of the Transport Department in Baneshwor under the organization of Nepal National Meter Business Taxi Drivers Association.
The taxi with red plates and white numbers are registered for private purpose. Only with the taxi with black license plates and white numbers are originally registered for service purpose.
The group today staged a protest by placing nearly 300 taxis on the road and voicing slogans. They have demanded that two-wheeler and four-wheeler with red number plates should stop carrying passengers.
Due to the demonstration of taxi businessmen, traffic has been affected on the road section from Maitighar Mandala to Tinkune and Koteshwor.
They have demanded that private vehicles should not be hired, Indian vehicles should be banned from operating in Nepali land, taxi stands should be managed in Kathmandu valley and keys should be taken away and drivers should be stopped.
