
SATV, Kathmandu, Mar. 26 - Sri Lanka Police have issued a warning to the public over fraudulent messages circulating on social media offering airline tickets at unusually low or special discounted rates.
According to Police, these deceptive advertisements are designed to mislead customers and steal money and personal information through false claims.
Police have urged the public to exercise extreme caution and follow key safety measures to avoid falling victim to such scams.
Police advised individuals to refrain from clicking on suspicious or unverified links, noting that such websites may be used to obtain sensitive personal data.
The public has also been warned not to share banking details, including OTPs and passwords, as legitimate airlines or authorized agents do not request such information via calls or messages.
Sri Lanka Police further emphasized the importance of verifying any promotional offers through official airline websites or their verified social media pages.
They also recommended confirming travel deals through registered and reputable travel agents before making any bookings.
Police have called on the public to remain vigilant and to share this information with friends and family to prevent further incidents of fraud.
