Police have arrested nine people from Kathmandu and Bhaktapur with 52 lakh 75 thousand fake notes. Kathmandu Police held a press conference on Friday and informed about it. Yesterday (Thursday) while checking the tourist bus number Lu.1.p.5 at Nakdhunga check post. The counterfeit note was recovered while it was kept packed in cartoons of noodles in the trunk, informed SSP Dan Bahadur Karki, the head of the area.
After that, the driver and co-driver of the bus were detained and interrogated, and more fake notes of 1.7 lakh two thousand rupees were recovered from Balaju Bus Park and Budhathoki village of Bhaktapur. Police said that 17 lakh 2000 seized in Bhaktapur was found in the room of Arjun Subedi of Sindhupalchowk.
SSP Karki said, 'Fake notes worth Rs 52 lakh 75 thousand have been recovered from them. They will be booked for currency offence'.
Arjun Subedi of Sindhupalchok, Sushil Karki, Milan Bhandari, Shiv Bhandari, Krishna Bhandari, Yuvraj Rai of Jhapa, Arjun Budha of Achham, Sagar Acharya of Gulmi and Parvati of Nawalparasi have been involved in the fake note transaction. The police also said that they will be prosecuted under currency offence.
