SATV, Kathmandu, October.7-  Most parts of Nepal are expected to receive rain throughout Wednesday, with unsettled weather likely to continue through Friday before conditions gradually improve from Saturday, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.

Meteorologist Rojan Lamichhane said most parts of the country are currently experiencing rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms.

Rain is expected to continue throughout Wednesday, with some improvement from tonight, although another spell of rain is likely on Friday afternoon.

“Weather conditions are expected to improve from Saturday,” Lamichhane said, noting that Nepal is currently being affected by a western low-pressure system as well as monsoon winds.

While rainfall is expected to be relatively lighter in the eastern region today, heavy rain is possible at one or two locations in Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces.

The highest rainfall recorded so far was 58.2 millimetres at the Simalpani station in Arghakhanchi, which falls under the category of heavy rainfall.

The department said moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, strong winds and hail is currently occurring at several locations, including Kathmandu Valley and parts of Bagmati, Lumbini, Gandaki, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.
