SATV, Kathmandu, Sept. 25 - Nepal Bhasa music video Yenya: Jatra by lyricist Shailesh Shakya 'Bhikchhu' was officially released on Tuesday at the Heritage Garden in Lalitpur.

Presented by Save Newa Valley and financially supported by the Kathmandu Metropolitan City, the music video was unveiled by member of the House of Representatives, Kulbhakta Shakya. The video was conceptualised and edited by Rabi Sayami, with vocals and music composed by Ram Shrestha, and music arrangement by Jugal Dangol.

Lawamker Shakya emphasised that the Newa community needs to become politically aware and reach a position where they can participate in running the nation's administration. 

He warned that it is already late for Newars to wake up, and if they continue to remain indifferent, the Newar community risks being displaced from its very indigenous homeland.

Reviewing the music video, which highlights Newa civilisation and culture, Nepal Bhasa Academy Chancellor Malla K. Sundar pointed out that while Indra Jatra is commonly promoted merely as a festival, the myths hidden beneath it need to be clearly understood.

Malla K. Sundar explained that while the Yenya: Jatra has been celebrated since the Lichchhavi period, the Kumari Jatra was initiated later by King Jayaprakash, making Kumari Jatra only a part of the larger Yenya: Jatra.
