SATV, Kathmandu, Sept. 02 - Following the devastating Bhotekoshi flash floods, several films have postponed their release dates.

The scheduled release of the film ‘Maya Bhanekai Yesto Hola’ has been postponed.

The production company, Diya and Amu Films, issued a press statement on Sunday announcing that the film’s release date, previously set for September 11, has been changed.

The production team decided that it would not be appropriate to release the film amid the difficult circumstances created by the devastating floods that struck the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa last Wednesday.

The statement, signed by producer Dil Shrestha, said, “Considering the adverse circumstances currently prevailing in the country, our team has decided to postpone the release as we felt it would not be appropriate to screen the film during this time of pain and sorrow. At a time when the nation is grieving, we did not consider it appropriate to present entertainment content, and therefore made this decision.”

With its September release postponed, the film is now scheduled to hit theatres on November 6, coinciding with Tihar, one of Nepal’s biggest festivals.

Directed by actress and filmmaker Rekha Thapa, the film features veteran actor Madan Krishna Shrestha, Dil Shrestha, former Miss Nepal Srishti Shrestha, Namrata Shrestha and former Miss Nepal International Niti Shah in major roles.

Likewise, another film, Baa:  Ek Yoddha, which was scheduled for release on September 4, has also been postponed in view of the devastating floods and the country’s ongoing humanitarian crisis.

In a press statement, the production company, Artistic Entertainment, said it considered it inappropriate to release a social and family-oriented film while many people were grieving and awaiting relief and rescue.

The film will now be released on December 10. Meanwhile, the film’s team has donated Rs. 201,000 to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund.
