SATV, Kathmandu, Aug. 6: Actor Arun Chhetri is set to play the role of famous comedian Hari Bansha Acharya in the biographical film ‘Ma Madan Krishna,’ based on the life of another veteran comedian Madan Krishna Shrestha.

In professional life, Hari Bansha Acharya has been Madan Krishna’s long-time partner, and Chhetri will now bring that role to the silver screen. 

The actor is currently enjoying the success of the blockbuster Gauthali, which is enjoying a successful run in cinemas.

Director Milan Chams said Chhetri has also signed on to play Hari Bansha Acharya in a separate biographical film based on the comedian’s life, which the same production team plans to develop as a companion project.

“We have cast Arun as Hari Bansha in ‘Ma Madan Krishna.’ At the same time, we have also signed him to portray Hari Bansha Acharya in his own biographical film," said Chams.

The biopic, announced earlier this month, will chronicle the life of Madan Krishna Shrestha, highlighting his personal struggles, achievements and remarkable artistic journey.

The film will be directed by Chams, who last year helmed Anjila, the biographical film based on the life of Nepal women’s national football team captain and goalkeeper Anjila Tumbapo Subba.

Actor Mahesh Tripathi has been cast in the title role as Madan Krishna Shrestha, while actress Keki Adhikari will play his wife, Yashoda.

The film will depict key chapters of Madan Krishna’s life, including his childhood, career as a government employee, artistic partnership with Hari Bansha Acharya, and his inter-caste marriage. 

The cast also includes Rajaram Poudel, Kiran KC, Rusha Neupane, Yaman Shrestha and Deshbhakta Khanal.

Presented by Vintage Motion Pictures, ‘Ma Madan Krishna’ will be produced by Rajkumar Shrestha.

According to the production team, shooting is scheduled to begin in the first week of September.
