SATV Kathmandu Oct 05: Following a complete suspension of domestic air services on Saturday due to poor visibility and heavy rainfall, a total of 140 domestic flights have been scheduled for Sunday to and from Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), according to airport officials.
Saturday's continuous downpour and low visibility had made it impossible to operate domestic flights safely, leading to a full-day disruption across the country.
The resumption of flights comes as major highways remain obstructed or closed due to landslides and floods triggered by heavy rainfall. The restoration of air services is expected to bring much-needed relief to travelers stranded in Kathmandu Valley and other parts of the country.
While domestic flights were grounded, several international services operated with minor delays, and some were diverted to nearby airports. Airlines including IndiGo, Thai AirAsia, China Eastern, Qatar Airways, Air India, Nepal Airlines, and Air Arabia were among those affected by Saturday's adverse weather conditions in Kathmandu.
