Nepal Army arrest 27 involved in looting, recovers millions in cash and weapons

SATV Kathmandu Sept 10: Nepali Army has intensified security operations, resulting in the arrest of 27 individuals involved in looting.

According to the NA, the arrests were made within 12 hours—from 10 PM on Tuesday to 10 AM on Wednesday. A statement issued by the Army reads, “From 10 PM on September 9, after the nationwide mobilization of the Nepal Army along with other security agencies, 27 individuals engaged in looting, arson, and violent acts intended to cause loss of life and property were arrested in Kathmandu and other parts of the country by 10 AM on Wednesday.”

The NA further said efforts are ongoing to control fire incidents using fire engines. Three fire engines were deployed to contain the blazes.

During the operation, Rs 3.37 million in cash looted from the Gaushala–Chabahil–Bouddha area of Kathmandu was recovered. Similarly, a total of 31 firearms, including 23 from Kathmandu and 8 from Pokhara, along with magazines and ammunition, were seized during search operations.

The NA also confirmed that 23 Nepal Police personnel and three civilians injured during the Gen Z protests are currently undergoing treatment in military hospitals.
