SATV Kathmandu Sept 08: One protester was killed in New Baneshwar on Monday during clashes between demonstrators and police.
Mohan Chandra Regmi, executive director of Civil Hospital, confirmed that one person died while receiving treatment. The identification of the deceased is yet to be ascertained.
He said dozens of injured protesters are being treated at the hospital, Everest Hospital and other nearby hospitals.
The situation escalated after protesters breached the restricted zone and entered the Parliament premises. Police responded with water cannons, tear gas and live ammunition, injuring many.
The Gen Z protesters have taken to the streets against the corruption and the ban on social media platforms.
The local administration has clamped curfew in different parts of the Capital city Kathmandu following the violent clashes. Demonstrations have taken out rallies in other major cities across the country as well.
