SATV,Kathmandu, Apr. 20: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that there is no reason for entrepreneurs to be dissatisfied with the current business environment in the country.
Addressing the inauguration of the 17th edition of the NADA Auto Show 2025 on Tuesday, Prime Minister Oli said that the government's policies, including fiscal, monetary, and others—are stable, practical, and entrepreneur-friendly.
"If someone is determined to be dissatisfied, it is a different matter. Otherwise, there is no place for dissatisfaction now. The government’s policies are business-friendly,” said Prime Minister Oli.
He further emphasised that the government is supportive of the private sector and is ready to provide further facilitation if needed. “In this situation, the youth should engage in production and innovation,” he added.
He claimed that the monetary policy and the fiscal policy and other policies have been made practical and business-friendly.
He said that the government has always encouraged startups, innovation and production.
Stating that the government has worked with priority on the development and expansion of infrastructure sector, Oli said that the road infrastructure and means of connectivity will be strengthened and improved.
"We have developed policy arrangements and infrastructure for progress and modernisation. There are no obstacles to investment and work. New and paved roads are being built in the north and south, we have added an international airport as well. We are producing and using green energy, methane gas, and molten iron and steels. Technology has been transformed. The goal of all of this is development and prosperity. You can move forward with confidence in this. Contribute to the country," he said.
Prime Minister Oli said that Nepal has been lagging behind in the race for development and now is the time to run faster than others.
Oli stressed that new developments, inventions and progress have been made along with scientific research and studies, and Nepal should also create a situation where it can easily benefit from such development.
He assured that the government will provide all kinds of support to the youth who work in new ways.
He stressed that all sectors should work at a rapid pace for the overall development of the country.
Noting that technology is developing at a rapid pace, he urged young entrepreneurs, businessmen, employees, and students to move forward by embracing technology with new thinking and energy.
He said that the robots and flying cars displayed at the auto show will encourage those involved in innovation.
On the occasion, Prime Minister Oil inaugurated the 'Deepal Flying Taxi'.
The six-day show organised by NADA Automobiles Association of Nepal will run by August 8, 2025. The auto show features 75 stalls selling four-wheelers, two-wheelers, three-wheelers and light commercial vehicles, lubricants, helmets and spare parts.
Banks and insurance companies have also participated in the auto show.
President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) Chandra Prasad Dhakal said that as the morale of the private sector is becoming positive, adding its impact on the economy is also starting to be seen.
He said that the overall economy has started to move due to sufficient liquidity in banks and financial institutions and the adoption of policy easing.
“The situation of the import of electric vehicles increasing recently is positive for us. The market will improve further in the coming days with easy policies," he said.
“The contribution made by the auto show to the economy is very important. When the economy slowed down in the last few years, its impact was felt in all sectors," he said. “However, from this year, demand has increased in the market. The morale of the private sector is also becoming positive from this year."
Karan Kumar Chaudhary, president of NADA Automobiles Association of Nepal, said that the loan-to-value ratio should be increased for vehicle purchases, meaning banks and financial institutions should extend bigger loans to buy vehicles.
"We are the government's chariot in the field of mobility. We are providing employment to the youth. We are trying to provide skills and also trying to encourage the youth to do something in their own country," he said.
"We expect the upcoming review of monetary policy to facilitate vehicle financing. We expect the transport policy to be good."
Stating that charging stations are being constructed in collaboration with NADA and Nepal Electricity Authority, he said that the infrastructure problem will be resolved soon.
Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel, Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Devendra Dahal and others attended the programme.
