The road department is currently doing red marking on the road of certain route. The Marking can be seen from Ratnapark to the route of Bhaktapur. On the lane of red marking, government has planned to operate Fast Track Bus service for the first time in Nepal from October 3 which falls to be the occasion of Constitution Day of our nation.
The Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport has given the responsibility of managing 25 large buses to the Transport Management Department. Preparations have been made to operate a fast track bus service from Suryavinayak- Ratnapark road section.
Fast bus service will be operated on this lane daily from 9 am to 11 am and from 4 pm to 6 pm to ease the office hour. The bus will run only in the marked lane and no other buses can interrupt in the lane at their operation hour.
Apart from that, the service is bound to be faster because the buses won’t stop even at the red light of traffic. For now, all types of vehicles will be allowed to run through those lanes.
At present, preparations are being made to operate these buses with “express service” written on them and later buses will have a specific colour code. The Department of Transportation has announced that it will be run as a trial from the day of the Constitution Day and will be fully operational after a week. There is a trend of operating express bus services to give priority to public transport around the world. According to the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Nepal is also preparing to operate buses with more than 40 seats.
