SATV, YUSHU,August 01: Series of conference on cross-Himalayan trade and exchange was inaugurated on the 1st of August in Yushu city, Qinghai Province, China, to mark the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Nepal and the People's Republic of China.

The opening ceremony, held in the pleasant evening weather of Yushu, began at 8 PM and lasted until 10 PM. Distinguished attendees included former Nepali Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, and President of the Nepal Olympic Committee, Jeevan Ram Shrestha, representing Nepal; Chairman of the Overseas Chinese Association in Nepal, Jin Xiaodong; Deputy Secretary of the Prefectural Party Committee and Governor of the Prefectural Government, Long Cuo; and Deputy Secretary of the prefectural Party Committee, Tse Dongdrup, among other dignitaries.

The 70th anniversary of this historic relationship, linked with the names of Bhrikuti and Songtsen Gampo, was celebrated with grandeur in the land of King Gesar. Thousands of Yushu residents gathered at Gesar Square to witness the event. Despite the language barrier, they were mesmerized by Nepali songs, music, and dances.

Speaking on behalf of the Nepali delegation, Jeevan Ram Shrestha stated that Nepal-China relations date back thousands of years, with only the formal diplomatic recognition being seventy years old. He expressed gratitude for Yushu’s hospitality and believed such events would further strengthen and sweeten the bond between the two nations. He emphasized that from Fa Xian and Buddha Bhadra to Arniko, the two countries have shared great luminaries, and now is the time to collaborate on development initiatives.

Jin Xiaodong, Chairman of the Overseas Chinese Association in Nepal, highlighted the long-standing friendship between Nepal and China and thanked the local government of Yushu for its recent efforts in deepening this bond. He praised the organizers, noting that such events hold great significance for overseas Chinese communities.

The trade and exchange program will continue until the 19th of Shrawan, featuring various observation tours and follow-up activities.
