Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Bhupesh Baghel, said BJP’s loss in Karnataka is a defeat of Prime Minister Narendra Modi who asked votes in his name. He also said the BJP cannot win the upcoming assembly elections in Chhattisgarh by depending on the Directorate of Enforcement (ED)

Speaking on the Karnataka election results, Baghel said, “Karnataka election results are as per our expectations. The BJP gave their best and Modi ji had presented himself before the people to ask for votes so this defeat is Modi’s defeat. The BJP already knew they would lose and because of this JP Nadda’s photo was used in place of Modi in the media.”

When asked about his views on why Congress won, Baghel said, “I had gone for Rahul ji’s road yatra. At that time, I got to know people were fed up with unemployment, rising prices and 40% commission and Congress united and fought against them. I congratulate Sonia ji, Rahul ji, Priyanka ji, Kharge ji and state Congress in Karnataka.”

When asked about election preparations in Chhattisgarh and allegations made by BJP in the state, Baghel said, “They do not have any issues left here. Also, the farmers, tribals, women, youngsters or Scheduled castes in Chhattisgarh are not with the BJP. So now they are making allegations trying to defame the government. So, they cannot win by depending on ED.”

Baghel recently had said that the ED was falsely linking him to the alleged Rs 2,000 crores liquor scam.

The ED has made four arrests in the case so far and has also mentioned links to the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh in one of their remand applications presented before a special court seeking custody of one of the accused.

When asked about the controversy over Bajrang Bali in Karnataka, Baghel said, “Now you can see with whom Bajrang Bali is! Bajrang Bali’s Gadha (Indian mace) fell on the head of corruption and BJP is done in Karnataka.”

Karnataka Congress President D K Shivakumar got emotional as his party secured a comfortable victory in the state Assembly elections, and told the reporters, “People have expressed faith in us, the leaders have supported us… thinking together is progress, working together is success.” “I thank all my leaders in the state, including Mr. Siddaramaiah, all the MLAs and party officers… who took the responsibility…,” the teary-eyed leader added.

Additionally, Congress leader Siddaramaiah, expressing his happiness at the victory said, “It is a mandate against Narendra Modi, Amit Shah and JP Nadda. PM came to Karnataka 20 times; No PM in the past campaigned like this.”

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, took to Twitter to react to the assembly election result trends which showed Congress inching towards victory, and said that Karnataka has chosen the politics of development over communal politics. “This will be repeated in the upcoming assembly elections in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Telangana as well,” Gehlot said in a tweet in Hindi.

“Under the leadership of UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, Congress leaders ran a great campaign,” the Rajasthan CM added.

Moreover, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav said the assembly election trends send the message that the “end” of the BJP’s negative, communal and corrupt politics has begun.

Yadav too took to Twitter to share, “The message from Karnataka is that the ‘antkaal (end)’ of the BJP’s negative, communal, corrupt, pro-rich, anti-women, anti-youth, socially divisive, propaganda, individual-centric politics has begun.” “This is a strict mandate of a new positive India against inflation, unemployment, corruption and animosity,” he wrote.
