Chinese Embassy in Nepal held a "Chinese New Year Reception" at hotel Yak & Yeti on January 19. More than 600 delegates from various countries participated in the event, including Chen Song, Chinese Ambassador to Nepal and Ganesh Timalsina, Chairman of the National Assembly.IMG_0995

H.E. Chen Song,Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, delivered a congratulatory remarks at the progromme.

Chen Song said that this reception is the first offline reception of the Chinese embassy in Nepal after three years. The Spring Festival is the most solemn traditional festival in China. Yearning and pursuit of a better life. 2023 is the Year of the Rabbit according to Chinese calender. In traditional Chinese culture, the zodiac rabbit symbolizes good wishes for kindness, beauty, wit and harmony.

In his speech, Ambassador Chen Song praised the Chinese compatriots in Nepal who worked tirelessly across the Himalayas and became disseminators of China's excellent culture, participants in the joint construction of the "Belt and Road" Initiative between China and Nepal.

Ambassador Chen Song finally quoted President Xi Jinping's New Year's message: "Although the road is long, the journey will come; although the task is difficult, it will be accomplished. Let us go hand in hand and write a new era of China-Nepal friendship with one heart and one mind, and promote the culture and economy of two countries. Let China-Nepal relations achieve greater brilliance. Finally, I wish China and Nepal stand tall like the Himalayas.''

Ganesh Timalsina, chairman of the National Assembly, said that he was very happy to meet again after a long time, and thanked the Chinese Embassy in Nepal for hosting the New Year reception. It is believed that the friendship between China and Nepal across the Himalayas will surely reach new heights, achieving new progress and harvest new results.

The reception was filled with a strong atmosphere of the Spring Festival, artists from China and Nepal performed wonderful performances.

Nepalese children from the Confucius Classroom at L.R.I International School brought a group singing performance "Resham Firiri". Similarly Ma Jing, the representative of overseas Chinese in Nepal, sent a beautiful New Year blessing "Good Luck" to the Chinese and Nepalese people; The traditional dance brought by the students showed that the Nepalese government and people are forging ahead towards the beautiful vision of national development and people's prosperity.

 Representatives of overseas Chinese in Nepal and Nepalese students studying in China formed a Sino-Nepalese group and sang the Chinese song "Friends". As the song says, "friends walk together for life" is just like the brotherhood between China and Nepal linked by mountains and rivers and friendship from generation to generation.'' The last ones were Chinese children from Yinghua College. They sang the Chinese song "Youth" and the traditional Nepalese song "Resham Firiri" in Chinese and Nepali respectively. The beautiful picture scroll of "heart-to-heart connection" attracted applause and cheers from the guests at the scene.

After the singing, the children waved the national flags of China and Nepal and loudly shouted "China-Nepal friendship, friendship from generation to generation", which won the appreciation of all the people in the hall.

It is understood that the event also includes the China Ten Years Achievement Exhibition (2012-2022), which displays the great achievements China has made in the past 10 years in the form of text and pictures, as well as bilateral high-level exchanges and folk cultural exchanges between China and Nepal. In addition, the China Cultural Center set up a booth to display traditional Chinese paper-cut art, brush calligraphy, and Chinese travel albums, allowing Nepalese guests to experience Chinese culture.
