The Gurung community has celebrated Tamu Lhosar with great joy atTudikhel. Lhosar this year is celebrated by bidding farewell to the (Tiger category) and welcoming the 'Hi Lho' (Cat category). Tamu Lhosar is celebrated grandly with cultural schedule in Gurung-dominated districts, especially in Lamjung, Gorkha, Tanahun, Syangja, Manang, Kaski, Parbat etc.

'Lho' by class or year and 'Sar-Char'means new..Every year on Poush15, Gurung's class/year changes. Poush 15 is celebrated by them as new year and caste festival. 'Lho' means there are 12 classes based on the Chinese calendar.

On the occasion of Tamu Lhosar, President Bidya Devi Bhandari, Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal(Prachanda)and leaders of various political parties expressed their best wishes.

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal on his speech has said that the government will highly respect the glorious tradition of the Tamu community. Speaking on the occasion of Tamu Lhosar, Prime Minister Dahal expressed this opinion while speaking at a special ceremony organized in Tundikhel, Kathmandu on Friday."We want to highly respect the glorious traditions that the Tamu community has earned, their ancestors have earned, and the Tamu youth have earned through their bravery," he said.

Prime Minister Dahal clarified that the identity of the Tamu community is not only in Nepal but also spread all over the world due to the record of honesty, diligence, loyalty, heroism and sacrifice. He said, 'Tamu community has established its original and historical identity. Due to their honesty, diligence, loyalty and hard work, due to their record of bravery and sacrifice,they have become an identity of pride for Nepalese, and for the whole world,they have  been established as a synonym for honesty, transparency, integrity, sacrifice,and dedication.Prime Minister Dahal mentioned that the bravery and sacrifices achieved by the Tamu community are a matter of pride for the nation of Nepal and the Nepali people.

PM Dahal also reminded that the Tamu community has been established as a synonym for honesty, integrity, sacrifice,and dedication all over the world.He also directed the security personnel to arrange special security arrangements for the program of Tamu Lhosar.In the ceremony, the Tamu community presented a dance with a tableau that reflects their culture.He further described the cultural tableau of the Tamu community as a fundamental tradition of national identity that lives on.In addition,he also commited to provide a huge amount of fiancial support to organize Tamu Loshar and  for the development of Tamu community than he previously promised during his tenure of prime minister before.
