NEPSE gains 9.24 points

SATV, Kathmandu, Sept. 2: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index rebounded on Tuesday after declining for six consecutive trading days.

The benchmark of share market 'NEPSE' index rose 9.24 points to close at 2,522.66 points, registering a marginal recovery following a sharp decline in recent trading sessions.

The NEPSE had lost around 115 points over the six trading days since August 21, reflecting sustained selling pressure in the market.

The sensitive index which measures the performance of group ‘A’ companies also increased by 1.72 points to close at 446.16 points.

Though the NEPSE index rose, trading turnover declined. 

A total of 7,613,681shares worth Rs. 2.90 billion of 341 companies were sold in 48,341 transactions today. 

On Monday, a total of 8,122,613 shares worth Rs. 3.61 billion had been bought and sold.

The sub-indices of all groups except manufacturing and processing group increased in today's trading.

Sub-index of the life insurance group saw the highest growth of 99.41 points followed by non-life insurance and hotels and tourism group whose indices increased by 80.42 points and 46.37 points respectively.

Similarly, sub-index of banking group increased by 2.66 points, others by 9.68 points, hydropower by 35 points and development bank by 6.19 points. 

Likewise, the sub-index of finance group increased by 5.71 points, trading by 2.89 points, microfinance by 2.33 points, mutual fund by 0.05 points and insurance by 0.57 points.

However, the sub-index of manufacturing and processing group posted a significant fall of 105.55 points.

The share prices of 182 companies increased, while those of 84 companies declined and 11 remained unchanged.

On Tuesday, share price of Mathillo Mailun Khola Jalvidhyut Limited increased by 7.15 per cent, MBL Equity Fund by 5.88 per cent and Emerging Nepal Limited by 4.85 per cent.

However, share price of Upakar Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited decreased by 8.48 per cent, Ghorahi Cement Industry Limited by 5.53 per cent and CYC Nepal Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha by 5.39 per cent.
