Paddy Day( Dhaan diwas) is being celebrated today on the 20th National Paddy Day with various programs across the country following this year's slogan "Climate Adapted Farmer Friendly Technology, Increase in Paddy Productivity".
Center for Crop Development and Agricultural Biodiversity Conservation at the National Agro-Science Research Center in Khumaltar, today, organized a program expressing good wishes to all the farmers for their paddy cultivation of the year.
The program was organized under the chief guestship of Mr. Bedu Ram Bhusal, Honorable Minister of Agriculture and Livestock Development.
Secretary of Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development Deepak Kumar Kharel, while talking about various challenges, also emphasized on promoting Chaitey Paddy (Chaitey Dhaan) based on solar energy. Since the insurance and relief grants in agriculture has divided the total sum into two, also resulting no significant development, he requests all the framers to insure their agriculture.
Jay Kant Raut, secretary of the National Planning Commission, emphasized on paddy production and said, "today is not only a one-day planting festival but also a day to review the increase in paddy production''.
Feeling sorrowful on how eight of the home industries of paddy export companies that came to shut down Mr. Raut envisions that the participation of youngster's plan, dedication and energy can help re-establish agriculture industries of the nation. He expresses, "Let's make a plan to bring the youngsters into our agricultural sector".
Bedu Ram Bhusal, Agriculture and Animal Development Minister ensures that there is enough fertilizers this year. "Eighteen thousand metric tons of fertilizers are now with us through 41 depots of Agricultural Materials Institute and 24 depots of Salt Trading". He adds, "45 thousands metric tons and 75 thousand metric tons of fertilizer are coming in Asar and Shrawan respectively".
Mr. Bhusal further suggests, "We have also produced rice seeds that can tolerate heat and tolerate a lot of water. Therefore, those who have fled to out countries can return to the paddy itself and can be raised from the paddy itself".
All those present celebrated this day by planting paddy while rejoicing in the music of panche baja in June's rain.
