SATV, Kathmandu, Jun. 17 - The Sudurpashchim Provincial government has introduced its largest budget in history for the upcoming fiscal year 2026/27, Minister for Economic Affairs Bikram Singh Dha

mi presented a budget of Rs. 37.70 billion in the Provincial Assembly late Monday mid-night.

This is the largest budget in the province’s history so far. The provincial government has presented the budget of Rs. 33.45 billion for the current fiscal year 2025/26.

It has been stated that the budget size was increased based on expected savings from the current fiscal year, growth in internal revenue, and income generated from natural resources.

Initially, the Provincial Assembly meeting for the budget announcement had been scheduled for early evening on Monday.

However, the meeting was postponed to late night after the ruling party, the Communist Party of Nepal (UML), expressed disagreement over projects it had recommended, constituency-level plans proposed by Provincial Assembly members, and ministry-level budget management issues.

The opposition Nepali Communist Party, on the other hand, boycotted the assembly meeting, seeking reasons for presenting the budget at midnight.

Previously, as its first budget, the provincial government had introduced a partial budget of Rs. 1.02 billion for fiscal year 2017/18.

Likewise, the province’s budget stood at Rs. 25.06 billion in FY 2018/19, Rs. 29.23 billion in FY 2019/20, and Rs. 34.64 billion in FY 2020/21.

Similarly, the provincial government had introduced budgets of Rs. 31.17 billion in FY 2021/22, Rs. 36.33 billion in FY 2022/23, and Rs. 29.26 billion in FY 2023/24.  The budget for FY 2024/25 was Rs. 31.62 billion.
