SATV Dec 22, Kathmandu: Huawei Nepal has marked a significant milestone with the inauguration of the Huawei Nepal Exhibition Center at Huawei Tower, Hattisar today. Honorable Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, inaugurated the exhibition center, which will serve as a hub for showcasing the latest trends and practices in the ICT sector.
The inauguration was followed by the closing ceremony of the Seeds for the Future 2024 program, Huawei's flagship CSR initiative aimed at empowering Nepalese youth through ICT education and innovation. Huang Jun, Chief Executive Officer of Huawei Nepal, delivered the welcome speech, with distinguished guests, including government officials, industry leaders, students, and key stakeholders, in attendance.
This occasion held special significance as it also marked Huawei Nepal's 25 years of contributions to Nepal's digital transformation. Over the past quarter-century, Huawei has played a pivotal role in shaping the country’s technological landscape, from advancing telecom infrastructure to driving innovation in ICT solutions. The inauguration of the Exhibition Center stands as a testament to Huawei’s continued commitment to supporting Nepal’s digital future and providing a platform for the next generation of tech leaders.
Additionally, Huawei announced the conclusion of this year’s Seeds for the Future program, with the closing ceremony attended by winners and academia. The Nepali student team that participated in the Tech4Good 2024 competition – the regional phase of the Seeds for the Future program – won the People’s Choice Award for their potential to improve healthcare access in underserved communities with their project idea, Ultra Care. This project proposes setting up portable ultrasound machines for pregnant women in rural Nepal, using AI to monitor fetal health. These students were recognized during the event for their innovative idea to create social impact with ICT.
Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, shared, “It is inspiring to see how Huawei has created a platform for our youth and encouraged them to develop innovative solutions with the potential to significantly impact Nepal’s socio-economic growth. I thank Huawei and our students for bringing Nepal’s pride to the global stage. Moreover, Huawei has proven itself to be a responsible member of Nepal’s ICT and telecom sector, contributing in diverse ways. I believe the exhibition launched today will enlighten ecosystem stakeholders, foster common understanding, and help establish a shared goal for Digital Nepal.”
Huang Jun, CEO of Huawei Nepal, said, “For the last 25 years, our guiding motto has been ‘In Nepal, for Nepal.’ We have left no stone unturned in creating a meaningful impact on Nepal’s ICT development. As we know, youth are the seeds for our digital future, and we have worked hard to develop their ICT skills and competencies. Moreover, we believe the goal of Digital Nepal can only be achieved through collaborative efforts. That’s why we’ve launched our exhibition center—to foster knowledge-sharing. We have spent 25 years working to build a fully connected, intelligent Nepal, and this effort will continue.”

Huawei Nepal's commitment to nurturing digital talent aligns with the country’s Digital Nepal Framework and its national vision for technological advancement. Since its inception in Nepal in 2019, the Seeds for the Future program has empowered numerous students with global exposure and leadership skills, contributing significantly to Nepal's growing digital ecosystem.
In 2024, the Seeds for the Future program received over 300 applications, with 30 students shortlisted to participate. The program combined technical training, practical workshops, masterclasses, and collaborative projects. The culmination of the program saw six top-performing students selected to represent Nepal at the Asia-Pacific Digital Talent Summit 2024 in China, where they gained invaluable international exposure.
