SATV, Jan 25. On the occasion of Chinese New Year (Spring Festival), a grand cultural program has been organized in Kathmandu on Wednesday. The event was organized at Hotel Yak & Yeti in Durbar Marg under the hospitality of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China and the Chinese Embassy in Nepal.

The event was organized by the Department of Culture and Tourism of Anhui Province of China and the Chinese Cultural Center in Nepal. Right Honourable Speaker of House of Representative Mr. Dev Raj Ghimire, Chinese Ambassador to Nepal His Excellency Chen Song, high officials and delegates of Nepal and China, Chinese Cultural Center in Nepal and other guests were present in the event.

Speaker of the Federal Parliament, Devraj Ghimire, speaking as the chief guest in the program, said that China and Nepal, which are connected by mountains, rivers, religion and culture, have had harmonious relations since prehistoric times. Speaker Ghimire said that Nepal and China, which have historical relations, have been achieving remarkable achievements in the development of exchanges in economic, commercial, political, social and religious fields in recent years.

Speaker Ghimire stated that the one-China policy is our declared policy and reminded that Nepal has completely banned any kind of anti-China activities using the land of Nepal. Speaker Ghimire expressed his best wishes for the happiness, peace, good health, longevity, brotherhood, unity and prosperity of the Chinese people on the occasion of Chinese New Year.

Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Chen Song, while presenting his speech at the event, expressed his best wishes for the rapid growth and development of Nepal-China relations on the important occasion of bidding farewell to the old year and welcoming the new year. Saying that Nepal and China are countries with friendly relations from generations, which are connected by mountains and rivers, Ambassador Chen Song acknowledged that during the 68 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, both countries have presented an example of equal treatment and bilateral win-win cooperation between big and small countries.

Recalling the official visit of Nepal's Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda to China in September last year, Ambassador Chen Song informed that during the visit, there was a broad consensus on strengthening the friendship between Nepal and China and expanding mutually beneficial cooperation during the meeting with President Xi Jinping, Prime Minister Li Qiang and other senior leaders.

Stating that China has always emphasized on its development, the interests and development of the world, Ambassador Chen Song said that he has not only created opportunities for the Chinese people to live a better life but also helped the people of Nepal and other countries to live a better life. Ambassador Chen Song emphasized that the great blueprint made by the leaders of the two countries should be implemented jointly in the new year.

In this grand cultural Beautiful Anhui program in Nepal, artists from Anhui province of China gave various cultural and musical performances. Among those cultural programs were the Chinese opera, Dance Seventeen, Eighteen, National Instrumental Music, Acrobat's Butterfly, Chinese drama based on the love story of Juliet and Romeo, etc.
