KATHMANDU, July 30: The Department of Revenue Investigation (DRI) arrested one individual on Sunday morning in connection with the 100 kg gold smuggling. The gold was seized by a DRI team from outside the Tribhuvan International Airport a few days ago.
It is said that DRI raided Hotel Vienna in Thamel after it was revealed that the people involved in the smuggling managed the smuggled gold through a person who is staying at the said hotel.
The arrested is identified as Dawa Tsering, who is a Belgian citizen of Tibetan origin. DRI has also seized the CCTV footage and computers from the hotel.
With this, the number of people arrested has reached 18. Further investigation is going on.
