Kathmandu, 19 July 2026 — The Asian Development Bank (ADB), Huawei Nepal, and Vishwa Niketan Secondary School have jointly launched a Smart Classroom and Student Scientific Inquiry Skill Development Workshop aimed at transforming education through digital technology.

The initiative, unveiled at Vishwa Niketan Secondary School in Tripureshwor, marks Nepal's first collaborative Smart Education platform connecting an urban school with schools outside the Kathmandu Valley. Through live interactive classrooms, scientific inquiry sessions, and real-time knowledge sharing, students and teachers from different regions will be able to learn and collaborate together.

Huawei's Smart Classroom solution will enable students in remote schools to access quality science education, interactive digital learning resources, and collaborative learning activities with students from Vishwa Niketan. Teachers from participating schools will also exchange teaching experiences and jointly conduct engaging lessons.

Speaking at the event, Chester Chen, CEO of Huawei Nepal, said the future of education should be determined by opportunities rather than geography. He noted that connecting classrooms across Nepal would help students and teachers collaborate beyond geographical boundaries while creating a more inclusive and future-ready education system.

Jeffrey Jian Xu, Senior Education Specialist at ADB, said the partnership reflects ADB's commitment to building an inclusive, resilient, and future-ready education system by combining innovation, collaboration, and digital technology.

The initiative aims to strengthen scientific literacy, improve teaching quality, and accelerate Nepal's digital transformation through smarter, more connected, and equitable education.
