SATV Kathmandu Sept 23: Tourism entrepreneurs from Pokhara called on Finance Minister Rameshwor Khanal today, drawing his attention to the challenges facing the tourism sector.

During the meeting at Singha Durbar, a delegation led by Pokhara Tourism Council Chairperson Taranath Pahari highlighted the urgent need for measures to revive the industry.

On the occasion, the delegation submitted a memorandum outlining a charter of demands. The letter stressed that incidents of arson and vandalism during the recent Gen-Z protests had inflicted severe losses on the tourism sector just as the peak season was about to begin.

The entrepreneurs demanded legal action against the groups and individuals responsible for vandalism, arson, and looting of corporate houses during the unrest, as well as prompt relief arrangements for affected businesses.

They also noted that widespread cancellations of travel packages and bookings by tourists had further deepened the crisis. The delegation urged the minister to take immediate initiatives to revive the sector and mitigate the adverse impacts of the unrest.
