SATV 11 June, Kathmandu: Thirteen Nepali literary works have been selected for translation into Chinese as part of a bilateral agreement between Nepal’s Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation and China’s National Administration of Press and Publication.

The agreement, signed during Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s official visit to China in 2023, aims to promote classical literature between the two countries. According to Dr. Dhana Prasad Subedi, Member Secretary of the Nepal Academy, the selected works include Laxmi Prasad Devkota’s Laxmi Nibandha Sangraha, Daulat Bikram Bista’s Chapaiyeka Anuhar, Bhishma Upreti’s Himal, Sherpa ra Yeti, and Dor Bahadur Bista’s Sabai Jatko Phoolbari, among others.

Similarly, 13 Chinese books have been selected for translation into Nepali. These include Reading Guide for Xi Jinping Thought, Seventy Years of New China, The Origins of Chinese Civilization, and A Brief History of Ancient Chinese Architecture.

A Nepal-China joint expert committee has been formed for this project, chaired by Nepal Academy Chancellor Bhupal Rai. The committee also includes translation scholars, publication experts, and Chinese language specialists.
