SATV April 1, Kathmandu: Flights at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) were disrupted today due to adverse weather conditions, causing several international flights to be diverted or delayed.

According to TIA authorities, over half a dozen international flights were rerouted to Bhairahawa and India due to low visibility. TIA Spokesperson Rinji Sherpa confirmed that flights operated by Jazeera Air, Air India, and Fly Dubai were among those affected.

Jazeera Air and Air India were diverted to Benaras, India, while Fly Dubai was rerouted to Gautam Buddha International Airport in Bhairahawa. Other flights were temporarily put on hold.

Earlier in the day, TIA recorded visibility of just 1,600 meters, falling short of the minimum requirement for safe landings. However, visibility has now improved to 3,000 meters.

Dust and haze were identified as the primary causes of reduced visibility at the country's only international airport.
