SATV 20 March, Pokhara: In a significant move to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Nepal-China diplomatic relations, the "Visit Nepal 2025" campaign, and "Pokhara Tourism Year 2025," direct international charter flights between Chengdu, China, and Pokhara have been announced. The first flight under this initiative landed at Pokhara International Airport on March 18, 2024, marking a new chapter in bilateral relations.
The occasion was further commemorated with a special cultural program titled "Seventy Years of Glory,Art Connects Hearts" on the evening of March 19. Artists from Yushu, Qinghai Province, China, showcased captivating performances, expressing their love and goodwill towards Nepal and its people.
Gandaki Province’s Minister of Industry and Tourism, Mitralal Basyal, expressed immense joy and enthusiasm over the launch of international flights to Pokhara, one of the world’s most renowned tourist destinations. He emphasized the positive impact this development will have on Nepal’s tourism sector, boosting both economic growth and cultural exchange.
Wang Xin, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Nepal, highlighted China’s consistent support for Nepal’s development in recent years. He noted that the direct charter flights are a result of this cooperation and stressed the importance of further strengthening the 70-year-old diplomatic relationship.
The collaboration between the two nations is expected to deepen, with Nepal poised to benefit from China’s technological advancements. Experts believe that even a fraction of China’s progress, if adopted by Nepal, could lead to transformative changes in the country’s development trajectory.
This milestone not only strengthens Nepal-China ties but also positions Pokhara as a key hub for international tourism, paving the way for a brighter future for Nepal’s economy and cultural diplomacy.
