Nepal defeated the United States in the Super Over in their second match of the three-match T2oI series at Dallas, US on Sunday.
The Rhinos chased the three-run target by the US in the one-over eliminator. With the win, Nepal have clinched the series with a match to spare.
The match was pushed to the Super Over following a tie. After winning the toss and opting to bat first, Nepal posted a competitive total of 170-6.
Kushal Bhurtel was the star of the innings, anchoring Nepal with an impressive unbeaten 92 from 54 deliveries. His innings featured seven boundaries and six maximums, ensuring Nepal set a challenging target. Anil Sah provided a steady start with 25, while quick cameos from Gulsan Jha (19) and Rohit Paudel (18) bolstered Nepal’s total.
In response, the USA also reached 170-8 after 20 overs, leading to a rare and dramatic tie. Andries Gous led the chase for the home side, scoring 62 off 43 balls, while Saiteja Mukkamalla supported with 47 runs from 41 deliveries.
However, crucial wickets at regular intervals slowed their momentum. Nepal’s Karan KC was pivotal in the bowling attack, claiming three wickets for 35 runs, while Sompal Kami took two wickets, including key scalps like Aaron Jones and Gous.
Dipendra Singh Airee put up an all-round display as Nepal defeated the United States by 17 runs in the first T20I at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas on Friday.
The final match of the series will be played on Monday.
