The second Forum on Communication and Social Development in the Himalayan Region commenced

The second Forum on Communication and Social Development inthe Himalayan Region, jointly organized by the School of Public Administrationof UESTC, the Department of Language and Mass Communication of Kathmandu School of Humanities, and Kngba TV was held at Kathmandu University.  The forum was sponsored by several important research institutions, attracting more than 100 industry experts and scholars from Nepal, the United States, India, the United Kingdom, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bhutan, as well as domestic institutions such as Tsinghua University,Peking University, Zhejiang University and Fudan University.

At the opening ceremony, Hu Jun, President of the University of Electronics and Technology, delivered a passionate speech, stressing the importance of the forum to promote exchanges and cooperation in the Himalayan region.

 The President of Kathmandu University also took the stage to deliver a speech, expressing expectations for the forum and welcoming exchange and cooperation among  scholars  from various countries.

 Prithvi  Subba  Gurung, Nepal's minister of communications and information technology, said in his speech that the Nepali government is committedto building high-quality science and technology and promoting digitalization to enhance the country's development potential. 

The forum held in-depth discussions on such hot-button issues as building a community with a shared future in the Himalayan region, inter cultural communication and inter community communication, digitalization and urban-rural social development, and regional development and cooperative governance. Li Xiguang, director of the Center for International spread Studies at Tsinghua University, said that the area around the Himalayas is vast and has a large population. The holding of this forum is of great and far-reaching significance for breaking the barriers between countries, enhancing mutual understanding, and promoting the common development of the region, thus making the Himalayan region an important bridge and corridor connecting the world.

Professor Ghani Rahman of the Centre for Asian Civilization Studies at the Jinnah University in Pakistan noted that China plays multiple important roles in the entire Himalayan region, including promoting international cooperation and exchanges, promoting economic and social development, promoting cultural understanding and identity, and safeguarding regional peace and stability. He believes that this forum provides an invaluable exchange platform for experts and scholars from all over the world, allowing everyone to see each other's differences and strengths, capitalize on each other and develop together.

According to Nirmala Mani Adhikary, head of the Department of Languages and Mass Communication at Kathmandu University, the forum was a key platform for teachers and scholars from China, Nepal and other countries to share knowledge and build contacts, promoted cross-cultural exchanges and paved the way for future academic exchanges and cultural cooperation in the Himalayan region.

Han Hong, director of the Pan-Himalayan Center for Communication Studies, said that this forum is not only a feast for cultural interchange, but also a witness for scholars from many countries to learn from each other and jointly contribute wisdom and strength to building a community with a shared future for mankind. He also mentioned that UESTC will actively build an exchange platform for transnational research, personnel training and media cooperation, strengthen theoretical research on international spread, and promote information, cultural and people-to-people communication among different countries in the Himalayan region.

In conversation with the SATV reporter Aasish Bhandari, a student representative from Nepal said, “I benefited greatly from participating in this forum. I was encouraged to see experts and scholars from different countries working together for the development of the Himalayan region.” Through such exchanges and cooperation, our region will become a better place, he expressed his belief. Similarly Agrim Adhikari, a volunteer at the forum stated, “This forum gave me a deep sense of the multiculturalism andrich development opportunities of the Himalayan region. As the younger generation, we should actively participate in regional exchanges and cooperation and contribute our efforts to building a community with a shared future in the Himalayan region.”

 

It is understood that this forum aims to share information dissemination based on digital communication, The research results jointly developed by various disciplines, including public administration, political science, and history, express their own opinions, with a view to deepening exchanges and mutual learning among the governments and institutions of the Himalayan countries in the fields of public administration and social governance, information exchange and communication, education and culture. The participantsin the forum agreed that the forum will promote high-quality development of the Belt and Road Cooperation. It is of far-reaching significance to further promote the achievement sharing, mutual benefit, cultural communication,people-to-people bond and long-term stability of the Changzhi Era in the Himalayan region, and to build a community of shared future in the region.

 

During the forum, the "Charming Heavens, Humanities China" outstanding humanities documentary films from Sichuan were exhibited and broadcasted, the "Mysterious Shuyuan, Humanities Chinese"book exhibition and the media industry research activities of Nepal were carried out simultaneously, bringing a rich and colorful cultural feast for scholars and audiences from all over the world.

In these times of both hope and challenge, the successful organization of the second Trans-Himalayan Communication and Social Development Forum injected new vitality into the prosperity of the Trans-Himalaya region.We believe that with the joint efforts of experts and scholars from allcountries and people from all walks of life, the Himalayan region will surely usher in a better tomorrow the organizers stated.
