SATV, June 10: On June 10, 2024, the  Lulang China-Nepal Plateau Dragon Boat Friendship Competition was held in Linzhi, Tibet, China. This event is not only a show of dragon boat racing spirit, but also an important platform for deepening cultural exchanges and friendship between China and Nepal.

The Nepalese dragon boat team competed in the plateau for the first time but still performed excellently and won the Grand Slams in the 100-meter dragon boat race; 200m Dragon Boat Race; Yak raft 100m and won the championship in the 200-meter double still water kayak competition as well.

It is reported that this year's dragon boat race attracted many top dragon boat teams from Nepal, Singapore and China. Entering into the game scenario, all the dragon boats with the sound of a whistle rowed through the quiet lake stirring up layers and layers of water. Every paddeling embodied the desire of the team members for victory and the love of dragon boat culture. The enthusiasm of the audience was high, cheering for every moment of paddling, the neck to neck competition pushing the atmosphere of the whole stadium to a climax.

Located in the picturesque town of Lulang in Linzhi, the opening ceremony featured a variety of traditional Tibetan songs and dances which not only allowed the participants and the audience to enjoy the exciting races but also provided a great opportunity to learn more about Tibetan culture.

This event is co-hosted by Tibet Sports Bureau and Linzhi Municipal People's Government. It was organized by Linzhi Education Bureau and Lulang Scenic Area Management Committee. The programme was co-organized by Nepal Pokhara Overseas Chinese Association and Pokhara Dragon Boat Association under the guidance of Chinese Dragon Boat Association and Chinese Embassy in Nepal.

The success of the event benefited from the careful organization of the organizers, co-organizers and the cooperation of all participating units. The competition not only demonstrated the high-level competitive ability of the contestants but also deepened the understanding and friendship between the two nationalities and realized the goal of promoting international exchanges through sports.

With the successful conclusion of the final, the Lulang China-Nepal Plateau Dragon Boat Friendship Competition is not only an sports event but also built a bridge of cultural exchanges between China and Nepal deepening the friendship between the two people. After the game regardless of the result, the team members embraced each others competetive zeal and shook hands with each other resembling true sportsmanship and the deep unshakeable foundation of an international friendship.
