RAWALPINDI: An officer of the Pakistan Army was martyred and three terrorists were killed as security forces conducted an Intelligence Based Operation (IBO) in the general area of Sambaza, Zhob District of Balochistan, on Tuesday.

During the intense exchange of fire, leading his troops from the front, Major Babar Khan (33 years, resident of District Mianwali), having fought gallantly, paid the ultimate sacrifice and embraced Shahadat, the ISPR said.

During the conduct of the operation, troops effectively engaged the terrorist location, as a result of which three terrorists were sent to hell.

Weapons, ammunition and explosives were also recovered from the killed terrorists. A sanitization operation is being conducted to eliminate any other terrorists present in the area.

Security forces of Pakistan, in step with the nation, remain determined to thwart attempts to sabotage the peace, stability and progress of Balochistan, and such sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve, the ISPR added.

In his reaction, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid tributes to the personnel of armed forces for the successful counter-terrorism operation in Zhob. The brave officers and men of the Pakistan Army destroyed the terrorists and their hideouts, he said and added that he and the nation were rightly proud of the brave men.

He also paid homage to Maj Babar Khan for making the ultimate sacrifice in defence of the country. He prayed to Allah to rest him in eternal peace and granting courage to his family.
