Nallathanniya, Jan 25 - Nallathanniya police announced the implementation of a special security programme on Poya Day today to ensure the safety of Sri Pada pilgrims, the police said.

Being the first poya day of the year, there is an increase in the number of pilgrims to Sri Pada. The majority of them arrive by trains and public transport to Sri Pada and there has been a significant decrease in the use of private vehicles.
