Kathmandu, Dec. 31: Nepal Tourism Board celebrates 25th anniversary of its establishment on 31st December, 2023 at Rastriya Sabha Griha.
Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), a national tourism organisation of Nepal, was established on December 31st 1998 by an act of parliament in the form of partnership between the government of Nepal and private sector tourism industry to develop the Nepal market of tourism. Ministry of culture as well as Tourism and Civil Aviation are the responsible minister of the NTB.
The headquarters of NTB is in Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu. Dr. Dhananjay Regmi is the working Chief Executive Officer of the board.
NTB was established with the objective of promoting sustainable growth, development of cultural as well as natural heritage and inviting the enchanting lifetime experiences along with making it a great platform for the world tourist to visit. NTB has 5 capable CEOs worked throughout the years since it's establishment.
Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation, Mr. Sudan Kirati also attended as a Chief-guest of the event. Present and former Nepalese delegates as well as delegates of multiple international institutions in Nepal, of different positions honoured their presence in the event.
The program advanced with the lightening of Panas by Minister Kirati. An introductory video of Nepal Tourism Board made audience familiar to 25 years of its journey in Nepalese market of tourism.
Honourable Sudan Kirati, Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Ministry, believes that tomorrow is sure to be better if we work today for it. He added, "new plans and agendas have been forwarded for new destinations construction. NTB has been concentrated on Nepalese tourism; the inclusion of natural and cultural heritage but we need to deliver more actions on it and lesser talks". Kirati believes that better destinations can be built if the focus is on the rich local culture and identity of our nation. He further highlights," the laws have handcuffed us in many ways even though we know the right execution, but still, we are dedicated to our goal continuously".
Dhananjay Regmi, CEO of Nepal Tourism Board conveys,"the year 2020, 2021 and 2022 was highly interrupted in tourism sector due to covid but still the continued efforts to bring international tourists has reached 10,12,000 according to today's fresh data".
Mr. Regmi shows gratitude to prime minister's words to keep tourism in priority as it equates to government representative word. He further adds, "Nepal Bhraman 2025"( Nepal Travel 2025) declaration is important.
Further, the award ceremony was conducted with great enthusiasm to honour different partners, supporters and organisations that NTB worked with, in cooperation to make their target a success. Mr. Hou Zhi Hong, Chairman of South Asia Network TV(SATV), a Chinese media was also awarded from Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Sudan Kirati.
Ms. Shreejana Rana, former president of Hotel Association of Nepal highlights on the digital development in Nepal's tourism industry for the tourism growth. She focuses that short-term, mid-term and long term, planning, implementation and evaluation is important.
Mr. Yogendra shakya, convener of Nepal Tourism Year 2011, flashed that the agenda of changing Nepal's flag was successfully cancelled as the initial slogan of the 2011 "Together for tourism" worked among all the citizen very powerfully.
Mr. Dipendra Purush Dhakal, 1st Chairman of Nepal Tourism Board Executive Committee puts light on the struggled birth history of the board. He reminded the board to bring Nepal out of black list of the EU.
"Kumari nritya" (cultural religious Kumari dance), "Jhijiya nritya"( Jhijhiya Dance) and "hudkeli nritya" (cultural hudkeli dance),was performed to represent the glimpse of the respect to culture from NTB.
