The Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) was conducting a raid in a remote hilly area under Kulaura thana of Moulvibazar on Saturday morning, suspecting it to be a militant hideout.

Eight people had been detained at the time of writing. 

The Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT) unit of the DMP was also working to see if there were any explosives at the hideout.

DMP Deputy Commissioner Faruk Hossain said: “The operation conducted by the CTTC and SWAT in the remote hills is named 'Operation Hillside.’”
