The beautiful customs of ancient Maldivians are memories of Maldivians of these modern times.

One such custom is the practice of sharing homecooked meals with friends and neighbors, packed in meal boxes.

The Dhiraagu ‘Thashibari Movement’, which the telecom company has been holding in the month of Ramadan since 2018, has been pivotal in reviving this practice.

Dhiraagu resumed the movement again this year after a two-year pause due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Dhiraagu ‘Thashibari Movement’, held with the purpose of promoting the spirit of kindness and giving in the holy month, is one of the most popular activities in Ramadan.

The hashtag used in this year’s ‘Thashibari Movement’ along with all other Dhiraagu campaigns this Ramadan is #MammageVedhun, a theme centered in celebration and appreciation of mothers.

The meal boxes are used to deliver signature dishes of mothers to family, friends, neighbors, and the needy.

Those who receive a meal box must refill it with their mother’s signature dish and deliver it to someone their nominate.

The movement is aimed at promoting social bonds.
