President Bidhya Devi Bhandari has extended her best wishes to all Nepalis at home and abroad on the occasion of the 2,565th birth anniversary of Lord Buddha. In a message released today, she has extended best wishes for peace and non-violence to all.
Meanwhile, President Bhandari mentioned that the birth of Gautam Buddha in Nepal was something to be very proud of for the nation and added that it showed the way for all to move towards peace and prosperity.
The president expressed the belief that Buddha’s preachings could bring world peace, tolerance, fraternity and mutual understanding among all. She also wished for normalcy across the world after the immediate recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Moreover, President Bhandari has also extended her wishes to the Kirat community on the occasion of Ubhauli festival. She said that the country should be proud of its multi-cultural and multi-lingual diversity and wished the festival may help bring mutual harmony, tolerance and fraternity among all.
Similarly, while delivering his message on the occasion of Lord Buddha’s birth anniversary Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun has drawn the government's attention to intensify the campaign of anti-COVID vaccination as the country reels under the coronavirus pandemic. While extending his wishes on the occasion of the 2,565th birth anniversary of Lord Buddha and festivals of Ubhauli and Chandipurnima today, Pun stressed on the urgency of anti-COVID vaccination and added that effective treatment of those infected is imperative.
Vice President Pun further mentioned that the struggle against the pandemic cannot be won merely through the efforts of the government, doctors, health workers and security persons, so full cooperation from the peopleis essential. He urged everyone to abide by the health protocols to stay safe at this critical hour.
