
SATV, Kathmandu, Jun. 30 - Lalibazar, which was released on May 8, completed 51 days in theatres on Saturday.
Produced under the Shatkon Arts banner, Lalibazar has completed its 51-day theatrical run at QFX cinemas in Bhaktapur, Civil Mall and City Square, Big Movies in Kamalpokhari, CDC Cinemas in Sundhara, CK Cinemas in Sitapaila, Ranjana Cineplex in New Road, Friends Cinemas in Butwal and Ilam, and Cine Royal in Nepalgunj.
The film’s executive producer and screenwriter, Pradeep Bhattarai, said the team would spend the day visiting various cinemas to thank audiences for their overwhelming support.
“We have received the same love for this film as we did for our previous productions under Shatkon Arts. We simply do not have enough words to express our gratitude. Today, we are visiting different cinemas throughout the day to meet and thank our audiences,” he said.
Bhattarai also revealed that Lalibazar has begun its international release following its successful run in Nepal.
“The film is now screening overseas alongside its run in Nepal. We will soon announce details of releases in more countries. It is currently showing in several European nations and will gradually be released in Japan, Australia and the United States,” he added.
Among the Nepali films released so far in 2083 BS, Lalibazar has emerged as one of the year's biggest commercial successes.
Having already grossed more than Rs. 90 million at the domestic box office, the film is now on course to join the Rs. 100 million club.
The film is directed by Yam Thapa. Previously, Shatkon Arts produced successful films including Talkjung vs Tulke, Jatra, Jatrai Jatra, Mahapurush and Mahajatra.
The cast features Swastima Khadka, Rabindra Singh Baniya, Samaira Thapa, Mukunda Kumar Shrestha, Abhay Baral, Prem Pandey, Asha Poudel, Govinda Sunar, Abha Aryal, Tara Sharma, Saraswati Adhikari, Janaki Kathayat, Nischal Panthi and Birbal Chaudhary, among others.
The film also marks the acting debut of Bishal Devkota and Prashansa Subedi. Bishal is an active theatre actor, while Prashansa is recognised as a Gen Z actress.
The screenplay and dialogues were jointly written by Yam Thapa and Pradeep Bhattarai. Pradeep Bhattarai serves as an executive producer of the film, while Max Deepesh Khatri and Rabindra Singh Baniya serve as producers.
