SATV, Dolakha, June 4 — A vibrant China–Nepal cultural exchange event was held at Shree Gaurishankar Secondary School in the Tamakoshi V Hydropower Project area of Dolakha District, Nepal, in celebration of International Children’s Day. The event was jointly organized by the China Foundation for Rural Development (CFRD), the China Cultural Center in Nepal, and Power Construction Corporation of China (Power China).

As part of the initiative, Power China supported the establishment of the “Sowing Hope, Supporting Growth” library and donated learning materials. The China Cultural Center introduced students to Chinese culture and showcased images of famous Chinese cities and cultural landmarks, while CFRD distributed sports kits to students. The activity highlighted the shared commitment of Chinese institutions in Nepal to promoting the educational, cultural, and physical development of children in remote communities.

The newly established library features a diverse collection of Nepali-language books related to China, suitable for students of different age groups. Decorated with cultural displays provided by the China Cultural Center, the library is designed to encourage reading and foster a greater understanding of Chinese culture among local students. The donated sports equipment will also help enrich school-based physical education and extracurricular activities.
The event opened with a traditional welcome ceremony performed by Nepali students, followed by a lamp-lighting ceremony attended by Counselor Zhu Feng from the Economic and Commercial Office of the Chinese Embassy in Nepal, Director Liu of the China Cultural Center, Ms. Zou Zhiqiang, Country Director of CFRD Nepal Office, representatives of local government, school management, and the Tamakoshi V Hydropower Project.
Guests jointly inaugurated the newly built library and cultural exhibition area, marking a significant milestone in the ongoing effort to strengthen educational support and cultural exchange in project-affected communities.
As an important component of the “Chinese Culture Enters Campus” public welfare initiative, the event reflects a broader vision of supporting quality education while deepening people-to-people connectivity between China and Nepal. The program was implemented by the Power China Nepal Tamakoshi V Hydropower Project team as part of its commitment to responsible international cooperation and sustainable community development.

A lively cultural exhibition introduced students to Chinese traditions, cultural heritage, and tourism resources. Through interactive activities such as paper-cutting and Chinese knot-making, students experienced the creativity and beauty of traditional Chinese arts while gaining a deeper appreciation of cultural diversity. Panda-themed gifts and mascot souvenirs further added to the festive atmosphere, creating memorable experiences for participating children.

To encourage interaction and teamwork, Power China employees joined students in friendly badminton and volleyball matches. The sports activities promoted inclusion, cooperation, and friendship, strengthening ties between project staff and the local community.

Speaking at the event, Counselor Zhu Feng emphasized that the International Children’s Day celebration was a meaningful example of how Chinese institutions in Nepal are combining corporate responsibility, cultural exchange, and public welfare. He noted that Chinese enterprises not only contribute technology and expertise for Nepal’s development but also actively support local communities through educational and cultural initiatives.
