
SATV, Kathmandu, May. 30 - Award-winning Chinese films from the Beijing International Film Festival are set to be screened in Kathmandu.
Under the promotional programme ‘Tiantan Award Panorama,’ six of these films will be screened in Kathmandu from June 2 to June 4.
The screenings are being organised through cooperation between the China Film Administration, the Beijing International Film Festival, and the Nepal Film and Cultural Foundation.
The event is also supported by the Chinese Cultural Centre in Kathmandu, Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu University, and Confucius Institutes in Lumbini, as well as Buddhism-related institutions.
KP Pathak, Chairperson of the Nepal Film and Cultural Foundation, said that the initiative aims to strengthen relations between Nepali and Chinese filmmakers.
Three films will be shown on the first day of the programme. The first film, ‘Trapped,’ will be screened at the event.
‘Trapped’ is the crime thriller directed by Sagara Zhang. The film won the Best Screenplay and Best Supporting Actor awards at the Beijing International Film Festival. A question-and-answer session with director Zhang is also scheduled.
Likewise, ‘Summer Diary,’ directed by Wu Shuang, will be screened.
Other films like ‘Lost in the Star’, ‘The Shadowless Tower’, and ‘Journey to the West’ will be screened on June 3 and 4.
