SATV April 8, Kathmandu: Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport (MoPIT), Devendra Dahal, has stated that the ministry will seek help from the Ministry of Home Affairs to ban vehicles operating in violation of existing regulations.

In a discussion with transport entrepreneurs and workers on Monday, Minister Dahal said coordination with the Ministry of Home Affairs as it would not be possible for the Department of Roads (DoR) and MoPIT alone to ban vehicles operating contrary to the regulations. 

He also stated that the government has plans to prevent traffic disruption at construction sites by giving priority to the management of alternative routes and diversions. He added that the repair of the BP Highway connecting Kathmandu and Eastern Nepal has been accelerated, and the reconstruction of the Kanti Lokpath, an alternative road that connects the federal capital to the central Terai, has also been prioritized.

The ministry expressed serious concern regarding the construction work on the Daunne road section, which is causing problems for vehicles and passengers, and mentioned that arrangements have been made to allow cargo and passenger vehicles to pass at suitable times.

Transport Secretary Keshav Kumar Sharma expressed his commitment that the construction of the section has been given top priority, and transportation will be made easier soon.

The program was attended by the President of the Federation of Nepalese National Transport Entrepreneurs (FNNTE), Bijay Swar, Senior Vice President Saroj Sitaula, General Secretary Deknath Gautam, representatives of various labor organizations, and others. Additionally, the Director General of the Department of Roads, Ramhari Pokhrel, and deputy directors general were also present.
