SATV April 8, Kathmandu: Two climbers have reportedly gone missing following an avalanche that occurred between Camp II and Camp III on Mount Annapurna.
The missing individuals have been identified as Rima Sherpa and Nima Tashi Sherpa of Solukhumbu district, according to Ningma Sherpa, proprietor of Seven Summit Treks.
The incident took place early this morning. Search efforts are currently underway by fellow Sherpas stationed at the base camp. A rescue helicopter has also been dispatched from Kathmandu to assist in the operation.
According to the Department of Tourism, 42 climbers-30 males and 12 females-from four expedition teams have received permits to scale Annapurna during this spring climbing season.
