SATV, 30 Sept Kathmandu: In a remarkable response to the rare heavy rainfall recently experienced in Nepal, China Southern Airlines swiftly acted to ensure the safety and stability of flight operations while protecting the travel rights of passengers.

On the evening of September 27, flight CZ3067 from Guangzhou to Kathmandu was unable to land due to severe weather conditions. While many airlines opted to cancel their flights or return to their departure points, China Southern Airlines made the strategic decision to divert to Dhaka, Bangladesh, where they awaited improved weather conditions before attempting to return to Kathmandu. Two hours later, the flight successfully landed in Kathmandu. Following this, flight CZ3068 from Kathmandu to Guangzhou took off just 40 minutes later, resulting in only a 4-hour delay, effectively meeting the travel needs of passengers in Nepal.

The situation became critical again on the evening of September 28, when flight CZ3067 from Guangzhou to Kathmandu was delayed by 2 hours due to adverse weather. As a result, 30 passengers on flight CZ3068 from Kathmandu to Guangzhou faced the risk of missing their onward connections to Sydney, Australia. This was particularly concerning during the peak National Day holiday season, as seats on subsequent flights were fully booked.

To address this urgent issue, China Southern Airlines activated its emergency response mechanism, quickly mobilizing resources to optimize flight operations and ground services. The airline prioritized ensuring that the 30 passengers were able to successfully connect to their onward flight in Guangzhou, allowing them to reunite with their families without further delay.
