KATHMANDU,1 Sep: China has extended its congratulations to Nepal following the certification of the Transitional Justice (TJ) Bill by President Ram Chandra Paudel.
The Bill to Amend the Investigation of Enforced Disappeared Persons and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (Third Amendment) Act, 2081, was signed into law by President Paudel on Thursday, in accordance with Article 113(2) of the Constitution of Nepal.
On Saturday, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Nepal Chen Song expressed his congratulations on the bill’s passage through a post on the social media platform X.
“Congrats on the Commission of Investigation on Enforced Disappeared Persons and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Act (Third Amendment) Bill, 2081 BS, certified by the Rt. Hon’ble Mr. Ram Chandra Paudel, President of Nepal. It marks a historic milestone in the peaceful process of Nepal based on all parties’ consensus. It’s time for all stakeholders to go ahead and embrace a brighter future for Nepal,” Ambassador Song wrote on X.
Prior to this, ten other nations including the United States, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Norway, Japan, Finland, the European Union, Germany, and France issued a joint statement welcoming the bill and pledging their support for its implementation.
