Kathmandu: The movie ‘Shambhala’, directed by Meen Bahadur Bham, has won an award in the 77th edition of the Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland.
Actress of the movie Thinle Lhamo won the Boccalino d’Oro award. Director Bham said that the award won by actress Lhamo in the category of ‘Best Acting Performance’ will inspire the emerging artists of Nepal.
He also dedicated this success to Nepal’s filmmakers, the inspiring, smart, and energetic women of the Himalayan region.
The movie Shambhala is a story of polygamy prevalent in the western Himalayan region of Nepal. Along with actress Lhamo, Sonam Topdre, Tenzing Dalhal, and Karma Shakya are other actors in the movie.
The film was shot at an altitude of 4,200 to 6,000 meters in Dolpa.
