Pakistan will face Canada in their third must-win T20 World Cup 2024 match at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York today.
The Green Shirts' hopes to stay in the mega tournament are hanging by a thread as they must win their next two group matches.
Pakistan's journey in the event so far has been disappointing. After a heart-wrenching Super Over loss to the US, they stumbled against India, failing to chase a modest 120-run target.
Their next challenge is Canada, which recently triumphed over Ireland after a high-scoring defeat to the US. To keep their World Cup dreams alive, Pakistan must not only defeat Canada but also secure victory against Ireland in their final group match.
They also crucially require to improve their run rate. However, their fate is not solely in their hands. They need the stroke of luck on their side as the US must lose their remaining matches against India and Ireland.
Pakistan's chances are so slim that any match washed out by rain will seal Pakistan's elimination from the World Cup. They will have to pray for favourable outcomes in the US games as they need only one point to nudge Pakistan out of the World Cup.
Should the US lose to both India and Ireland, the Pakistan-Ireland clash on June 16 will be crucial.
