Huawei Nepal Opens Registration of Talents for ICT Future

SATV, Kathmandu, May 05: Huawei has opened the registration for its 'Seeds for the Future Nepal 2024' on Friday, May 31 by organising an inauguration event in Kathmandu, Nepal. Undergraduate students can register through its website www.seedsnepal.com till June 9.The event was co-organised by Ministry of Education, Science and Technology along with its Co-Strategic partner, UNESCO. Seeds for the Future Nepal 2024 is Huawei’s fourth year of consecutively organizing the 'Seeds for the Future’ program in Nepal.

Seeds for future is Huawei’s globally recognised Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) flagship program, the longest- running CSR initiative across the world. This program seeks to develop local talent, share knowledge, increase ICT sector awareness and enthusiasm and foster digital community building. The ceremony projected its sole purpose of building a fully connected, intelligent world by cultivating digital talent.

The inauguration event started with the welcome speech of Mr. Huangjun, CEO of Huawei Nepal where Andrew Peng; CTO of Enterprise Business presented the keynote. His Excellency Chen Song; Ambassador of Pople’s Republic of China to Nepal, Bishwo Babu Pudasaini; Secretary of Ministry of Education, Science and Technology Division, Bhola Thapa; Vice Chancellor of Kathmandu University graced the event with their presence. Other Government Officials, deans and professors from various universities, Chairman and CEOs from various organizations also joined the event.

The CEO of Huawei, Huang Jun encouraged, "this program embodies Huawei’s commitment to nurturing the brightest minds and fostering technological innovation and cross-cultural exchange. The experiences and knowledge gained through this program will empower our young talents to become leaders in the digital transformation of Nepal. They are the seeds that will grow into the future innovators, entrepreneurs, and tech leaders of the nation."

The Ambassador of People's Republic of China to Nepal His Excellency Chen Song, expressed, Huawei is a leading provider of ICT solutions that has been dedicated to building a better-connected world for 25 years in Nepal. Seeds for the Future program is a shiny example to nurture young talent and foster innovation in Nepal. This innovation initiative reflects the values of knowledge sharing and capacity building that are crucial for the advancement of any society.”

The secretary of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology Bishwo Babu Pudasaini glorifies Huawei’s effort denoting, “ICT skills are in high demand across various sectors, enabling youth to secure better job opportunities and contribute to the nation's economic growth. It enhances employability and prepares them for the digital economy. Seeds for the Future is a great deal for the youth of Nepal to contribute further.”

The Vice Chancellor of Kathmandu University, Prof. Dr. Bhola Thapa, shared, “By nurturing the skills of youth and igniting their passion, Huawei Seeds for the Future empowers them to shape the digital landscape, driving innovation and propelling Nepal's ICT industry to new heights, paving the way for a prosperous future.”

The Dean of the Institute of Engineering, Tribhuvan University Prof. Dr, Shashidhar Ram Joshi, shared, “Programs like Seeds for the Future are very impactful for our students. I've seen our students have gained invaluable ICT skills, empowering them for the digital age. This program equips our youth to drive innovation, foster entrepreneurship and propel Nepal's growth in the global tech landscape.”

This two months competition will have multiple phases of interviews, assignments, and presentations. The winner of the ‘Seeds for the Future Nepal’ will have the exciting opportunity to travel to China for onsite training and regional competition. During their visit, they will be attending seminars on cutting-edge technological innovation by industry experts.

This year Huawei has formed a diversified jury board involving government, academia, and industry experts. Despite being a global brand, Huawei has been serving Nepal for more than 25 years with an ambition to build a fully connected, intelligent Nepal where it commits to developing young talents through various kinds of programs like “Seeds for the Future”. Huawei has been instrumental in nurturing Nepali talent in the field of tech. Through this program, Huawei continually expands global ICT knowledge to Nepal.
