Pakistan High Commissioner to Maldives Vice Admiral (Retired) Muhammad Fayyaz Gilani has expressed confidence that the brotherly ties between Maldives and Pakistan will continue to flourish in the years to come.
He made the remark while speaking at a cake cutting ceremony held at the Pakistan High Commission in Hulhumale’ to celebrate Maldives’ Independence Day.
Welcoming the guests, Deputy High Commissioner Zulqurnain Ahmad threw light on the importance of the Independence Day.

He said Independence Day is an occasion for retrospect into the glorious past of the country, and its freedom struggle.
“It is a fusion of nationalism, patriotism, brotherhood, respect, tribute and similar sentiments,” he said.
High Commissioner Gilani began his speech by extending heartfelt felicitations to the government and people of Maldives on occasion of Independence Day.
He highlighted on the years of cordial relations between Maldives and Pakistan, which he said was based on common faith, culture, mutual trust and respect.

Gilani said that Pakistan is working with the Maldives in various areas of mutual interest, including education, health, sports, capacity building, and social sectors.
He noted that many Pakistanis consider Maldives as their second home, same as many Maldivians consider Pakistan their second home.
“We are confident that the fraternal and brotherly ties between our two countries will continue to flourish in the times to come,” he said.
He wished Maldives continued progress, development and prosperity.
The event celebrating Maldives’ Independence Day was organized by the Pakistan Maldives Friendship Association (PMFA) and Pakistan High Commission.
